Product details
Berlin, 1945. While the Allied forces bomb the capital of the German Reich, the Nazis are smuggling Reichsbank gold and foreign currency out of the city. Entire trainloads end up in tunnels in Thuringia and Bavaria, where later hundreds of tons are secured by the Allies. However, a large part remains missing, and to this day it is not fully documented where the German gold treasure ultimately ended up in the chaos of the post-war period. Ian Sayer has made the search for the missing Nazi gold his life's mission. Inspired by an entry in the Guinness Book of Records that describes the disappearance of the Reichsbank gold as the greatest theft in history, he embarks on a quest that has already lasted nearly 40 years. He interviews eyewitnesses, travels around the world, inspects buildings, and tries to uncover hiding places. His archive on World War II continues to grow.
