Product details

Traditionally, narcissism is understood as self-love and ego-centeredness. Martin Altmeyer counters this reading of a central psychoanalytic - and in the meantime also colloquial - concept with an intersubjective definition. Narcissism addresses the basic need to be seen, noticed, recognized, and loved by others. Narcissism is precisely not the solitary self-reflection. It is in the mirror of the environment that the self is formed. We know that the primary narcissism of the infant depends on the holding function of the mother and the smile in her gaze. We see that the narcissistic infant seeks attention and admiration. We see that the self-dramatization of the media star needs the applause of the audience. And we suspect that the narcissistic disorder also has a silent or noisy but always desperate struggle for inters.
