Three books in a package (German/English)
Nan Hoover, Anneliese Hager and Maria Lassnig are artists who were keen to experiment and innovate in different media. They were interested in alienation effects, body perception and reflection on time and space. All three explored Surrealism at an early stage and found their own individual visual language in different ways: the unifying factor is the preoccupation with light, space and the body as well as the existential question of self-perception and localisation in the world. While the US-American Hoover was one of the pioneers of international light, video and performance art and also produced a surprisingly painterly body of work close to pop art, Hager, who is one of the most interesting female photographers of the 20th century, has remained virtually unknown. The Austrian painter Lassnig is today one of the most important artists of the 20th century, but it was not until later, in the 1980s, that she achieved her international breakthrough. With this publication, three books in a package, these three artists can be rediscovered or even rediscovered completely.
