Product details
For more than ten years, Christopher Rüping has been shaping German-speaking theater. Together with a close circle of companions, he has developed a theatrical language that allows performers great freedom and intense connections with the audience: from the ten-hour ancient evening "Dionysos Stadt" to the modern family drama "Just the End of the World," through conceptually strong reinterpretations of modern classics like Brecht's "Drums in the Night" or Sarah Kane's "Crave," as well as playful engagements with novels by Miranda July, Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre, and Mieko Kawakami, and during the performative ride through hell, purgatory, and paradise in "The New Life." In conversations with editors Vasco Boenisch and Malte Ubenauf, as well as dramaturg Katinka Deecke, Christopher Rüping provides insight into his working methods, artistic ideals, and personal experiences. Additionally, around 30 companions create a kaleidoscopic picture of their collective collaboration. In personal discussions with Andrea Breth, Tim Etchells, Susanne Kennedy, Henrike Kohpeiss, Toshiki Okada, and Peaches, Christopher Rüping reflects on his work through the perspectives of others. Previously unpublished drafts of stage designs, costumes, and compositions, along with text versions, document the artistic creation process, complemented by production photos and a detailed catalog of works.
