Dr. Alfred Baur (1925 - 2008) studied mechanical engineering. After serving in the war and being captured by the Russians, he studied German philology, history, and philosophy, where he encountered anthroposophy. He worked in various therapeutic educational institutions. In 1957, he founded a practice for speech therapy and special education with his wife, an anthroposophical physician. Since 1976, he has been training therapeutic and educational professionals in Chirophonetics.

Alongside the memorable, beautifully crafted verses, the artist has painted images in varying moods. This has resulted in a picture book that children can cherish. For children – and unfortunately almost exclusively for children – the entire nature is animated, and they have a relationship with what we call elemental beings that is almost incomprehensible to adults. Adults should take this relationship very seriously and not dismiss these beings lightly as mere fables. For children, they are a reality. Our picture book acknowledges this fact and promotes both aesthetic appreciation and a rhythmic sense of language.
