In many counseling and psychotherapy processes, early losses in childhood or adolescence become apparent. Increasingly, those affected are seeking counseling and therapy themselves to process these early losses. Often, it is only the awareness of such unprocessed losses that makes current symptoms, such as anxiety disorders or depression, understandable. Roland Kachler demonstrates how this often-overlooked topic can be addressed using hypnosystemic approaches and Ego-State Therapy: the child ego-state affected by the loss receives supportive guidance in its previously incomplete mourning and relationship process. It is central that the relationship with the deceased must be clarified and shaped. Only then can work be done on the developmental recovery of the child ego-state, allowing current symptoms to be resolved as well. The interventions presented can be implemented immediately.
