It has been shown that almost every area of warehouse management offers opportunities for sustainable design. The results of these measures include cost savings, increased economic efficiency, energy efficiency, and warehouse utilization, as well as a reduction in waste generation and raw material consumption. However, not all actions have positive economic effects; some can even lead to efficiency losses. By incorporating sustainability orientation, the overall warehouse management system becomes more complex. This results in increased planning, organization, and monitoring efforts, which can negate the cost savings. In summary, sustainability-oriented warehouse management is a relatively under-researched area in the literature regarding sustainable logistics. The present work can only offer partial solutions.
