Product details
Friedrich Gerstäcker, born in Hamburg in 1816, had a strong desire to travel and explore distant lands from an early age, partly due to the influence of relevant literature such as Defoe's "Robinson Crusoe." In 1837, he decided to make his dream a reality and emigrated to America from Bremerhaven. However, after a few years, he returned to Germany, where he documented his experiences in the foreign land and quickly became a popular author. In the following years, he undertook further travels, including to Africa, South America, and the gold rush regions around California. This book is the fifth volume of Friedrich Gerstäcker's emigration saga and tells the story of the lives of newcomers in America.
