Mysteries are exciting and fun. The teaching method of mysteries makes use of this: It enables pupils to deal with a topic in a motivated and active way.

The new volume focuses on interdisciplinary science teaching in lower secondary school. The mysteries relate facts to a topic and require interconnected thinking processes. Mysteries in Science contains 9 mysteries for grades 5&ndash,&shy,10 with 24 basic and 8 extension cards per mystery and instructions for the learners. Texts on &bdquo,Science as a subject&ldquo, and &bdquo,Mystery as a teaching method&ldquo, provide teachers with a sound introduction, and background information supports lesson planning.

The volume is aimed at student teachers, trainee teachers and teachers, especially of the compulsory elective subject of science, who want to enrich their lessons with an unusual method and work on scientific topics in a way that is motivating for their pupils.
