Musik aufführen

This volume deals with the scientific study of music as a phenomenon that occurs in performances. Practical questions of performance, which were already of great importance in the early days of musicology, have today been expanded by numerous cultural studies perspectives, which are attempted to be captured by the terms interpretation research, performance studies, or sound studies. Due to these diverse perspectives, the explicit aim of this volume is to present the current outlines of a research field that inquires into the sonic manifestation of historical music, thereby connecting to the beginnings of scientific music research based on a broad source base.
