Product details
Miles Davis, Suzie Quatro, the Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper and Tina Turner - Olten photographer Franz Gloor has had them all in front of his lens. Concert photography is a lesser-known facet of his work.
Olten photographer Franz Gloor (1948 - 2009) is known for his industrial photography and pictures of the railway town of Olten. People at work and people on the move were two of his main themes. A previously unpublished and little-known facet of his work concerns concert photography. Most of the pictures date back to the 1970s. International greats such as Mick Jagger, Miles Davis, Alice Cooper, Tina Turner, Chick Corea and Led Zeppelin are represented. Concerts by Polo Hofer, Magog and TEA, the band of the later frontman of Krokus, are also represented. The recordings
were used by the magazine "Music Scene" to illustrate the events. Although intended as "commercial photography" for a short-lived medium, Gloor's aim with these images was always to capture the moment in which music is created.
The journalist and former editor-in-chief Peter Kaufmann was Gloor's client. The photographs collected here come from his archive and from the holdings of the Historisches Museum Olten. They represent an impressive contemporary document. A large selection is being shown here for the first time. This unique oeuvre and the music scene of the 1970s are illuminated from different perspectives in the articles.
The book is a companion publication to the exhibition of the same name
exhibition of the same name (24 August 2024 - 23 February 2025) at the Historisches Museum Olten.
