Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus - Fantasy in D minor KV 397 (385g)

The origin story of one of Mozart's most popular piano pieces, his d-minor Fantasy, remains unclear to this day. Even Mozart's sister, who became acquainted with the work through its first edition in 1807, was surprised to discover a composition of such quality that had been completely unknown to her until then. The Fantasy most likely remained a fragment in its original form. The final measures, which are most commonly played today and which we also include in our edition due to the lack of Mozart's manuscript or other authentic sources, come from an unauthorized print from 1806. Our individual edition has been created based on the musical text of the revised complete volume 'Mozart, Piano Pieces'.
