In the early nineties, Manta drivers were the East Frisians among car drivers: anyone who drove a Manta was a laughingstock. Opel had serious intentions when it transformed the modest Ascona into a stylish coupe to compete against Ford's Capri. This was so successful that a new version followed in 1976. It remained in production for 12 years in countless variants and was only replaced by the Calibra. Today, the Manta has long matured into a respected classic, to which Alexander F. Storz pays a worthy tribute in this volume, enriched with a wealth of historical photos, documents, and brochures.
