The VW Beetle soon became too small for the prosperous citizens of the post-war economic miracle. Buyers and dealers demanded a larger Volkswagen. They received the Type 3, from which the legendary Karmann-Ghia coupe was developed, and the Type 4 (411), produced from 1968 to 1974.
