Product details

Morbid tourism, as a consequence of modern life and contemporary ideas about tourism, plays a leading role in the development of contemporary forms of tourism. This is the first time someone has written about morbid tourism on a global scale. Therefore, the author provides some definitions of morbid tourism and outlines various forms of it. The reason for exploring morbid tourism is the gradual destruction of normal tourism. This work analyzes and presents all forms of morbid tourism (dark tourism, disaster tourism, vamp tourism, drug tourism, sex tourism, and virtual tourism) and the implications this has for the image of the destination. The goal is to raise awareness of the existence of morbid tourism, and an effort is made to understand this form objectively and to halt its development, in order to instead promote the growth of normal contemporary forms of tourism that serve tourists for recreation, relaxation, leisure activities, cultural entertainment, and the improvement of overall health. The research findings could be useful for anyone involved in tourism: for those committed to the development of tourism at the destination, as well as for tourists, both actual and potential users of tourism services.
