Product details
This teaching material imparts the knowledge necessary to set up a larger IP network with multiple subnets. First, the realization of a larger local network with numerous PCs is explained. Connection devices such as routers, switches, or hubs are discussed along with their advantages, disadvantages, and areas of application. Various types of Ethernet, the most important wired technology for local networks, are also compared.
To correctly configure network devices and troubleshoot potential errors, the function and structure of TCP/IP protocols are treated in detail. Typical configuration errors and troubleshooting procedures are also explained. Routers can be used to connect the various subnets. The configuration of these devices is demonstrated through various examples and exercises. Networks can be divided using the so-called subnetting to flexibly adapt the network structure to requirements. Calculation methods and rules are provided to meaningfully subdivide IP networks and to identify errors in subnetting.
This teaching material is based on the essential practical knowledge of the I-CH module 129 'Commissioning LAN Components' and is primarily aimed at students and trainees in initial IT training. It can be used in training sessions that provide practical foundational knowledge in the field of 'Network Management.' Due to the didactic and methodological preparation of the learning material, it is suitable for both hands-on teaching and self-study.
