Modetrend Entwicklungshilfe? Freiwilligendienste in Lateinamerika

The appeal of living for a year in a foreign country, in a foreign culture, is growing. The trend of voluntary services is steadily increasing. In response to the growing interest, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development launched the "Weltwärts" development policy volunteer service. What motivates the many volunteers to go abroad? To what extent is the actual motivation really the desire to provide development aid? Or is it rather the adventure abroad itself, the later splash of color in the curriculum vitae or a fashionable trend which is followed in order to be able to keep up with one's friends? The answer to these questions is the subject of this book. In doing so, the author deals with the answer to the question of what motivates young people to decide to do voluntary service.
