Product details

Birgitta Hörnschemeyer is developing a simulation model connected to the urban hydrological model SWMM (US EPA) that allows for site-specific simulation of vegetation evaporation in urban areas. For urban open spaces, the process modeling of the energy and water balance is conducted for the entire soil-plant-atmosphere system. The process model enables a spatially and temporally differentiated calculation using meteorological and vegetation-related data, which also represents the annual vegetation dynamics. The modeling of blue-green infrastructure for stormwater management is explicitly taken into account. Additionally, due to its scalability for micro- and mesoscale studies, the model offers the opportunity to analyze various effects in the urban water and energy balance.
