Mobiler Zugriff auf mediale Internetdienste

Mobile access to the various information and offerings of the internet has become increasingly attractive in recent years. Currently, the requirements of many services can be met by the continuously expanded mobile networks. However, the mobile use of media data provided online is problematic due to the resulting data volume. This paper analyzes the access to media services provided in a car via a WLAN/UMTS router and presents a mechanism to improve the achievable service quality. Simulation models are developed for the three services 'Progressive Download', audio streaming with the 'SHOUTcast' protocol, and streaming with the 'Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP)', both for the original system and the system enhanced by the developed optimization approach. Through various simulation experiments, it is investigated to what extent a performance increase for the three services can be achieved through the implemented optimization approach.
