Product details

In this book, Axel Scholtz, the theater and film actor as well as voice actor, offers his readers a deeply personal insight into his life story for the first time, in which he often transformed from an artist into a survivor. Alongside colorful and multifaceted episodes from the theater and film world, and encounters with impressive personalities, he now reveals much about his often adventurous life. It is written in an impressive, touching, moving manner, infused with his own wit and humor.

After being expelled and subsequently fleeing from Prague, he returned to Munich in 1945 completely exhausted and half-starved, along with his mother and siblings. A miracle happens! A year later, he stands on the stages of the Munich Kammerspiele and becomes a successful and highly praised child actor. His success continued, as he was born with a lucky charm on his head. In 1947, he shot his first film with Hildegard Knef, "Zwischen Gestern und Morgen," and in the same year, he played a leading role alongside Gustav Fröhlich in "Wege im Zwielicht." For decades, he followed with numerous film, television, and stage appearances. Among others, he acted with colleagues such as Hans Moser, Theo Lingen, Heinz Rühmann, Senta Berger, Gerd Fröbe, Curd Jürgens, Lilli Palmer, Inge Meysel, and the clown Grock in front of the camera, performed theater alongside Carl Wery, and filmed under renowned directors.

In his memoirs, he also shares his unusual world travels, his experiences with long-term partners, and his dearly loved various dogs, who remain his best and most loyal friends to this day. Alongside funny stories from the artistic world, there are also numerous quiet, reflective, and sad passages in which he allows a glimpse into his emotional world. Many rare photos and documents complete the book.
