Minijobs in Deutschland

Fabian Beckmann examines mini-jobs, a controversially debated form of employment in the German labor market and social model. In light of a mini-job debate without mini-jobbers, the focus of the analysis is on the subjective perception and assessment of the work situation of marginally employed individuals. The empirical findings present an ambivalent picture: numerous objective employment-related risks associated with mini-jobs are countered by predominantly positive subjective evaluations of work quality and high job satisfaction among employees.
