Migrationsrecht

Migration is omnipresent in society, politics, media, and law. Migration law represents the legal attempt to facilitate, regulate, or prevent migration processes. This textbook, now in its fifth updated edition, serves as an introduction to this area of law. It begins by outlining the social and political science foundations, the historical development, and the international and constitutional legal frameworks of migration law, rounded off with a look at developments at the European level. This is followed by a presentation of the fundamental areas of Swiss migration law: foreigner law according to the Foreigners and Integration Act as well as the Free Movement Agreement with the EU and EFTA, refugee and asylum law including temporary protection provisions, the Dublin system, and citizenship law. Finally, it also addresses the legally unregulated status of undocumented migrants.
