Product details

The eighteen essays compiled in this book, written between 1990 and 2010, are intended to analyze social developments that can currently be observed in Switzerland, in other European countries, and ultimately throughout the world. The aim is to make social change as well as areas of tension within modern, increasingly differentiated, fragmented and mobile worlds visible. The first part of the book contains essays on migration, migration policies and civil rights. The papers in the second part deal with flexibility, hybridity, authenticity, xenophobia, and multiculturalism, ultimately with all that gives contour to modern processes of inclusion and exclusion. In the third part, in turn, essays are collected in which the culturalization and discrimination of defendants with migration backgrounds are discussed.
