Identity, wokeness, cultural appropriation, political correctness - these terms do not only play an important role in public debates. They are also part of the stock of thought and action in social education and social work: but what do they mean for these? To what extent should they guide our activities? Inspired by Mithu Sanyal's novel Identitti, the book deals with these topics. It is not without confusion, for social pedagogy is not exhausted in a simple thought, but should be understood as a space for conversation or encounter and debate. The book is a passionate plea to understand social pedagogy as an open way of thinking that remains cautious even in the face of superficial moral certainties in order to engage with the concrete life situations of people.
