Travel Guide Haute Provence

Travel differently and discover something special: With the current tips from the Michael Müller travel guides, you can plan your trip individually, sustainably, and safely.

For over 30 years, author Ralf Nestmeyer has been exploring the southern French region. He is eager to share his wealth of experience in our travel guide "Haute-Provence" – now in its seventh edition. Across 272 pages with 144 color photos, he showcases the full diversity of the area. Everything has been researched on-site and tested for you. The author's insider tips highlight particularly worthwhile attractions, restaurants, or accommodations. Ecologically, regionally, and sustainably operating businesses are emphasized. With 38 maps and overview plans, you will always be well oriented. 14 hikes and tours allow you to discover every corner of the "Alpes de haute Provence." MotorradABENTEUER states: "The first choice for the area." Südwest Presse calls our Haute-Provence travel guide "unrivaled."

Overview of Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes: High alpine passes and peaks can be found in the "Alpes de haute Provence." France's largest reservoir, Lac de Serre-Ponçon, nestles like a fjord into the mountains. Hikers and nature lovers enjoy the tranquility and explore abandoned villages like Chaudun. West of the Durance, picturesque villages such as Lurs or Mane are scattered across the hilly landscape. East of the Durance, the Grand Canyon du Verdon impresses, with the river winding like a jade green ribbon in its dizzying depths. Refreshment can be found at Lac de Sainte-Croix, while the lavender fields on the Plateau de Valensole enchant with their intense fragrance. To the east, the transition into the Maritime Alps begins. The Mercantour National Park protects the alpine landscape from destruction. Many valleys remain untouched, and with a bit of luck, you may spot ibex and gentians. The village of Barcelonette surprises with its "Mexican flair.".
