The book aims to give a clear insight into the sport of figure skating. After a short historical outline and information on equipment and methodology, the most important techniques of individual skating are described. The rich visual material makes even difficult elements easy to understand. This is followed by a description of the various competitions that lead ambitious athletes through free, figure and artistic skating to class and finally champion skating. Finally, the competition rules, which have been internationally valid since the 2004/05 season but are only partially applied nationally, are explained.
The book is intended for hobby skaters of all ages who are interested in the aesthetically beautiful variant of ice skating. On the other hand, it is also aimed at class skaters. Here they can reread what they have learned and look at the correct technique repeatedly in the numerous pictures.
