Metzler Lexikon Sprache

The Metzler Lexicon of Language provides information on the entire field of linguistics with over 5,000 entries and offers an overview of the world's languages, complemented by colorful language maps. The focus is on grammatical terms from the core areas of linguistics: phonetics, phonology, morphology, lexicology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The lexicon also covers the terminology of historical linguistics and central currents in linguistics, such as generative grammar and valency grammar. Additionally, it includes terms from interdisciplinary fields such as language acquisition research, sociolinguistics, philosophy of language, computational linguistics, and AI research. For the sixth edition, the lexicon has been thoroughly revised and updated. Numerous new articles from various areas, particularly from grammar research, as well as streamlining, reflect the development of language research in recent years.
