The energy storage system plays a central role in hybrid-powered automobiles. Several conventional types of storage have been extensively researched in recent years, and their standardization has already progressed significantly. However, for the new types of storage that are the subject of this work, there are only uncertain standardization guidelines, such as for measuring typical parameters and the safety of the storage systems. The standardized measurements and their evaluations in this work served as a basis for decision-making for a renowned car manufacturer regarding the use of one of the examined storage types in hybrid vehicles. All types of storage, their characterization, respective modeling, measurement methods of the processes, lifetime studies, and evaluation profiles are presented. All measurements were conducted on supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries, resulting in a variety of measurement diagrams, result descriptions, and explanations, as well as a direct comparison of the foundational storage technologies found in the book.
