When someone tells a story with the intention of supporting a learning process, this story is called a metaphor. Learning contents gain an imaginative character through a metaphorical form, through which they appear closer to the listener than the logic of the factual connections. The knowledge gained from the metaphor is the result of the listener's own search and not of a given scheme. This facilitates their acceptance. Using metaphors is also highly effective in consultative contexts. The task of a counselling interview is to guide a discussion partner with a personal problem to his or her goal. A metaphor represents the problem in another context and shows the possibility of a solution. With a metaphor a consultant communicates indirectly. Whoever offers a metaphor, causes the listener to talk about a Zusa.
