This thesis deals with the thermal expansion of embedding and backsheet films of plastic materials used in photovoltaic modules. The linear coefficient of thermal expansion has been determined by thermomechanical analysis (TMA) on plastic films and laminates. The investigations were performed in two heating curves, longitudinal and transverse to the take-off direction. Besides unaged samples, aged samples were also examined. Furthermore, the TMA measuring method was examined in more detail, taking into account the preload or storage at room temperature. As a final step, the "pseudo-TMA" measurement method was characterized on a measuring instrument that is primarily used for DMA analyses.
