Product details

Thomas Berns has traveled to Duisburg. For six months, the photographer was on the road, covering hundreds of kilometers in all directions and throughout all neighborhoods. He climbed to the highest building in the city, walked along rivers and lakes, and wandered through forests. He visited places where people live, work, and celebrate, where it is loud and crowded, as well as spots that are so quiet and beautiful that it's hard to believe. Early in the morning, he captured the sunrise in the landscape park, photographed the vibrant life in the city at noon, and in the evening, he documented the futuristically lit inner harbor. He photographed animals that one would never expect to find here. Most importantly, he met people who shape the city in diverse ways and give it a distinctive character. Thomas Berns has reinterpreted familiar sights through photography and discovered much that was unknown, even for him as a native of Duisburg, capturing it in images. The result is a photo book that impresses with the variety of subjects as well as the technical brilliance of the photographs. Rarely has a city been portrayed so intensely and comprehensively in a book. "Duisburg" is an exciting visual journey that gifts anyone who embarks on it with fantastic impressions.
