Mental Models of Recursion

"Mental Models of Recursion" is a scholarly book that stems from the author's research as part of a doctoral program at the University of Warwick. It explores how undergraduate students perceive the concept of recursion. The book offers a unique approach to analyzing students' mental models related to recursion and their development towards an integrated mental model. By interacting with a Logo-based abstraction domain known as AVDA (Animative Visualization Domain of Abstraction), students gain insights into the underlying levels and essential components of recursion. This abstraction domain allows the author to investigate the perception of changes and the evolutionary processes in students' mental models. In conclusion, the book presents an integrated model for the evolution of mental models, referred to as CPIM (Coordinated Pyramid for Integrated Mental Models of Recursion).
