Memed mein Falke

In the remote villages on the edge of the Anatolian Taurus Mountains, the landowner Abdi Aga rules. The soil is so miserable that almost only thistles grow on it. And the Aga demands two-thirds of every harvest. Memed, the farmer's son, has incurred his hatred. He is forced to flee to the mountains. The lanky, timid boy becomes a robber, rebel and avenger of the people. In the fight against the Aga, Memed eventually loses everything: his mother, his bride, the fertile field that the peasants hold out for him after the amnesty. But when the revenge against Abdi Aga is accomplished, the farmers take the harvests to their own barns every year. And at the feast of joy before the plowing, a ball of fire appears on the mountain behind which Memed disappeared.
