Membrane process for artificial organs

Product details
Artificial organs are membrane modules that exchange or remove blood components in an extracorporeal circuit. The classical principles of crossflow and countercurrent processes are applied in this context. Manfred Raff demonstrates how functional relationships between target variables and geometric, material, and operational parameters for the entire module can be derived from models at the differential membrane element for the design of such membrane processes. The resulting equations can also be used for technical applications.
The Author:
Manfred Raff has focused on membrane technology throughout his professional career. He initially worked in the industry in research, development, and production of membranes and modules. Later, he taught process engineering as a university lecturer at Furtwangen University and researched membrane topics such as measuring pore size distribution in membranes, studying mass transport in artificial livers, and simulating mass transport in high-flux dialysis. After retirement, he continues to work as a lecturer at HFU, Campus Schwenningen.
