Meine Wunder

A hundred years ago, in the spring of 1911, the poetry collection "My Wonders" was published. It established Else Lasker-Schüler's fame as a leading expressionist poet. "There are fabulous poems in the book. Truly the very best!" declared Karl Kraus, reporting, "The poetry book is making waves here." Among the poems are now-famous works such as "An Old Tibetan Carpet" and "My People," as well as the Hebrew ballads "Pharaoh and Joseph" and "David and Jonathan," along with outstanding lesser-known verses. The book was reissued three times by 1918. Since then, it has never been published again as a standalone edition.
