Meine südhessischen Weihnachtsgeschichten

The eleven Christmas stories in this book span the period from the 19th century to the present day. Fred Nitsche provides insights into real historical events and geographical contexts in these fictional, sometimes slightly autobiographical narratives, while also addressing the respective social situations. The stories revolve around three themes: 'Christmas and Children', 'Christmas and Love', and 'Christmas and Animals', with all but one set in Southern Hesse. They take place in the Taunus, in the Ried, in Darmstadt, in the Odenwald, and of course in Pfungstadt, the author's hometown. In the story 'Christmas in the Hospital', Fred Nitsche transports readers to the picturesque Christmas setting of Kreuth am Tegernsee. This book is lovingly designed with vignettes by Raffaella Buhofer, who lives in the Aargau region of Switzerland.
