Product details

Bernhard Wessling is what one commonly refers to as a multi-talented individual. He studied chemistry and earned his doctorate, making him a researcher and scientist. However, he is also a photographer and nature conservationist, works on an organic farm, and is active in business. Not only in his home country but also in the Far East. He lived in China for thirteen years and successfully built and managed a company. He traveled the country and studied the people there. He did this free from the usual prejudices and without any hesitation. Of course, immersing himself in a completely foreign culture was like jumping into cold water. But he not only learned Chinese but also quickly learned to swim in that water. Wessling does not see his writings as a travel guide or a resource for businesspeople; it is neither a reference book nor a political analysis. Bernhard Wessling reports what he saw and heard. Nothing more. This, however, sets him apart from most authors who write about China and have never actually been there.
