Over the course of our time living in apartments, we've experienced quite a bit with our neighbors. For instance, there was the neighbor who spent all day standing behind the curtain, closely observing what everyone was doing. Then, as soon as something happened, she would rush out of the house for her gossip session. "Have you heard?" were always her first words if you fell into her clutches. Since we moved into our house in the countryside a few years ago, we now have Cucumber Heinrich as a neighbor. A truly unique specimen who lives behind our garden fence. A know-it-all by profession, a pseudo-eco enthusiast, and blessed with a hedge trimmer that he insists on using to trim our hedge from time to time. Yes, that's how it is with neighbors.
