Actually, actress Angela Winkler leads more than one life: for the stage, for film - and equally for her family. In "My Blue Room," she recounts these lives, taking us behind the scenes of her beloved theater and recounting the experiences that have made her the strong woman she is today. Winkler talks as warmly as she does openly about all the dramas that occur so suddenly in life: the missed moments, opportunities and misfortunes as well as the moments of happiness, successes and formative encounters. She recalls her beginnings as an actress at the legendary theater in Castrop-Rauxel and with the New German Cinema, the many almost derelict houses in Italy and France that she rebuilt and brought back to life together with her husband, and lets us share in her love of nature. We are with her on stage and in front of the camera, accompany her in her collaborations with directors such as Peter Zadek, Klaus-Michael Grüber, Robert Wilson or Volker Schlöndorff - and in her small and large escapes from the theater business. Sensitively, in her very own way, she tells us about her family, her mother, who lived to be over 100 years old, about the birth of her four children and, last but not least, about being old as an artist. In this way, we get to know Angela Winkler as an extraordinary woman who goes through the world with her own head and, to this day, opposes the constraints of life with as much willfulness as possible.
