Megalithen in Deutschland

From Aurich to Rügen, from the Saar to Forchheim in Bavaria - the large stone structures are the oldest witnesses of our past. The earliest barrows were built a millennium before the Egyptian pyramids. Little is known about their significance, although many were burial or cult sites. The book tells us when and how huge stones were first erected in Germany and Central Europe and how the ancient world, the Middle Ages and modern times interpreted these monuments and used them for their own purposes. But it also shows how the idea of piling up monuments from boulders has survived to the present day.
