The formulation aids have become a standard reference for formulating verbal assessments in many schools since their first edition in 1996. With the third revised edition, the collection was expanded to include new text modules for assessing student performance in English, additional formulations for mathematics in grade 2, a comprehensive compilation of suitable text modules for transition reports to higher school types, and around 800 new text modules for assessing older students, such as in group examinations and project work. The fourth edition also introduced an extensive collection of specific short formulations, as well as modules for describing learning progress and performance descriptions with corresponding recommendations for support. The fifth edition is a comprehensive revision of the chapter for grade 1.
