Maxim Biller

Maxim Biller's unique work captivates with its polyphony: from novels like "Six Suitcases" and "Mama Odessa," inspired by his family history, to short stories, novellas, columns, essays, songs, plays, and children's books, his literary spectrum is vast. With the self-portrait "The Used Jew," he has brought new impulses to the memoir genre. In his texts, German and Jewish traditions meet, as well as North American and Central and Eastern European influences, merging into a distinctive literary tone. This publication sheds light on Biller's work from a scholarly and critical perspective, for the first time incorporating the manuscripts preserved at the German Literature Archive Marbach - offering a new look at the writing processes of an author who is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary German-language literature.
