Product details

Max von Moos (1903-1979), who lived in Lucerne his entire life and taught at the School of Arts and Crafts for over thirty years, is considered one of the most influential and prominent artist personalities in modern Swiss painting. However, his tendency to present himself as an artist figure in front of the camera is far less known. Numerous photographs from his estate attest to this, including memorable portraits by the renowned photographer Lisa Meyerlist.

"Max von Moos in Photographs" explores these testimonies and, unusually, does not focus on the artist's visual work but instead brings to life his everyday life and the environment in which he created his significant surreal oeuvre. Partly unpublished private images of him as a child and young man, traveling, as a teacher, or drawing in the studio of his family home, Villa Heimbach, reveal a previously little-known side of this multifaceted and charismatic artist.
