Max the mole lives comfortably and contentedly in his molehill when he detects a terrible stench while searching for food, and soon finds himself surrounded by biting smoke. He immediately knows that someone could be in great danger and sets off to help. Indeed, the nearby chicken coop is burning fiercely, and the chickens are desperate because they cannot escape.
