Newton's Principia, written in Latin in 1687, ranks alongside Homer and the Bible as one of the three foundational texts of our world. However, it took nearly three hundred years for a qualified German-language selection edition to appear. This edition is presented here in a revised third edition. Newton's work advances Galileo Galilei's teachings on motion through geometric methods in two books. From non-material causes, the forces of nature, Newton explains a multitude of natural phenomena and, in a third book, the structure of the world. The literal translation clears away centuries-old materialistic misinterpretations and presents Newton's authentic teaching as a dualistic and theocentric, truly Christian philosophy of the creative action of real spiritual principles, including free will.
