Mathematics is an important foundational subject for many degree programs at universities of applied sciences, technical universities, and universities. Teaching experiences in introductory mathematics courses show that many first-year students encounter initial difficulties in mathematics, which can be attributed to a variety of causes. This book aims to help avoid such initial difficulties as much as possible. It is intended to be used alongside the first mathematics lectures, for bridging courses and preparatory courses, but also for self-study and review before or during studies. In the tenth edition, various sections of the text have been revised and improved in content.
