Product details
In view of the increasingly destructive effects associated with the capitalist logic of valorisation as the structuring principle of our society, materialist feminism is becoming particularly topical. But how do the structural logic of capital and the resulting tendencies towards independence contribute to the continuation, but also to the transformation of gender relations? What power asymmetries and what forms of violence go hand in hand with this? And what role does the family play here, in which class relations are reproduced through the intergenerational transfer of wealth?
The theoretical and research articles from the field of gender studies collected in this volume discuss how a materialist-feminist perspective can contribute to the critical analysis of our present. The authors examine social phenomena of particular urgency by updating historical perspectives using their own theory-based analyses and empirical studies, for example on body economies, corporate cultures or family models. At the same time, the articles open up prospects for alternative forms of organising communal economic activity and life and thus also address the question of the possibilities of emancipatory practice.
