In this study, the ability of the common duckweed (Lemna minor L.) to remove nitrogen from water within 4 weeks was investigated. The property of duckweeds to extract and absorb nutrients from water is documented over the course of the experiment. Weekly water analyses were conducted, the biomass increase was weighed, the percentage of nitrogen content was determined through elemental analysis in the biomass, and the water content in the plants was measured. The experimental setup consisted of 5 experimental containers and 5 control containers, which were arranged in sequence. Each experimental container received an application of 15 g of Lemna minor. After 4 weeks, it was found that 23.7% of the total nitrogen had been transferred to the biomass, the dry mass percentage was 9.5%, and the nitrogen content in the dry mass was 4.6%. Statistical significance tests confirmed this effect and also indicated a high effect size for the use of Lemna minor compared to the non-use.
