Martin Meuli - Operation am Ungeborenen

Professor Dr. Martin Meuli, Director of Surgery at the Children's Hospital Zurich, is a curious, ambitious, and original thinker. He initially wanted to become a singer or tennis instructor, but then studied medicine in search of a challenge and ultimately became a senior physician instead of a tenor. At the Zurich Children's Hospital, he has advanced the revolutionary development of artificial skin as a specialist in burns. During a longer stay in America, he discovered the possibility of operating on unborn fetuses with spina bifida (open spine) in the womb and, as a pioneer of this surgical technique, has already spared many children a life in a wheelchair.
