Marie kommt heim

Marie, in her mid-forties, attractive. After some trials and tribulations in love, she has retreated to a quiet small town in the South and decided to remain emotionally unharmed from now on and not to take any more risks in life. One day, she receives an urgent call from the nurses at her mother's nursing home: the very old woman is dying and wants so much to see her daughter one more time. Marie had not been home for a long time, a place of pilgrimage on the Lower Rhine, because the relationship between mother and daughter had always been a troubled, complicated one.
For Marie, the trip becomes a stirring journey into the past, including that of her mother. As it were, two books of life open up. Only at the end do both find what connects them again.
